1. Agreement
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Alderbeam, Inc. (“Alderbeam,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) governing your use of the GutLoop application, website, private beta releases, and related services (together, “GutLoop”). By accessing or using GutLoop, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree, do not use GutLoop. If you use GutLoop for or on behalf of another person, you represent that you have authority to accept these Terms for that use.
2. What GutLoop is
GutLoop is a personal tool for recording meals, bowel movements, digestive symptoms, and related notes in a chronological timeline. It may calculate descriptive counts and surface possible timing relationships in records you enter.
GutLoop is not a medical device and does not diagnose a condition, recommend treatment, or prove that a food caused an outcome. Any insight or AI suggestion may be incomplete or incorrect and should not replace professional medical judgment.
3. Use in urgent or clinical situations
Do not use GutLoop for emergencies or as the sole basis for a health, dietary, medication, or treatment decision. If you believe you may have a medical emergency, contact local emergency services. If you are concerned about symptoms or your health, consult a qualified healthcare professional.
4. Permission to use GutLoop
Subject to these Terms, Alderbeam grants you a limited, personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the application for lawful personal use. GutLoop and its branding, design, software, and content remain owned by Alderbeam or its licensors.
5. Your responsibilities
You agree that you will:
- Use GutLoop lawfully and only for its intended personal-tracking purpose.
- Review entries, photo suggestions, and possible patterns for accuracy.
- Protect your device, local app data, exported files, and shared copies.
- Obtain any permission needed before recording information about another person.
- Follow the rules of any app store, operating system, or service used with GutLoop.
You must not:
- Use GutLoop to provide unlicensed medical diagnosis or treatment.
- Interfere with, overload, probe, or bypass security controls of GutLoop or its backend.
- Reverse engineer GutLoop except where applicable law expressly permits it.
- Upload unlawful content, malware, or content you do not have the right to process.
- Misrepresent GutLoop output as proof of causation or a clinical conclusion.
6. Your records and photos
You retain your rights in records, notes, and photos you enter. You give Alderbeam and its service providers only the limited permission needed to process information for a feature you request, such as returning an optional, consented AI result or responding to a support request.
You are responsible for deciding what to record, export, save to a gallery, or share. Once you send a copy outside GutLoop, that copy is controlled by the destination and may no longer be private.
7. Optional AI features
Some builds may include optional AI-assisted meal, stool-appearance, or insight features. AI output is probabilistic and may be wrong. A photo suggestion does not confirm what is shown, and an insight interpretation cannot add facts, diagnose a condition, prove causation, or replace the local evidence shown by GutLoop.
You remain responsible for reviewing suggestions before relying on or saving them. Manual logging remains available when an AI feature is off, unavailable, or unsuccessful.
8. Private beta and store availability
A private beta may be incomplete, contain defects, change without notice, or be distributed through a controlled release rather than an app store. Store badges marked “coming soon” are availability notices, not a promise of a launch date or approval by Apple or Google.
Where GutLoop is downloaded through Apple's App Store or Google Play, the applicable store's terms also apply. The store provider is not responsible for GutLoop support except to the extent required by its own terms or applicable law.
9. Third-party services
GutLoop may interact with operating-system services, device backups, app stores, hosting providers, sharing destinations, photo services, or optional AI processors. Those services have their own terms and privacy practices. Alderbeam does not control third-party services or external copies you choose to create.
10. Updates and changes
We may improve, add, remove, suspend, or discontinue features. Updates may be required for security, compatibility, or continued access. We may also update these Terms; the revised date will appear above. Continuing to use GutLoop after updated Terms take effect means you accept them, to the extent permitted by law.
11. Suspension and termination
You may stop using GutLoop at any time and delete app-managed data using the controls described on the data deletion page. We may suspend or terminate access to remote services if necessary to protect users, comply with law, address abuse, or maintain security. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will remain in effect.
12. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, GutLoop is provided “as is” and “as available.” Alderbeam disclaims warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, non-infringement, and uninterrupted or error-free operation. Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Alderbeam and its officers, employees, contractors, and licensors will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, goodwill, or opportunities arising from GutLoop. Any limitation applies only to the extent permitted by applicable law and does not limit liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
14. Applicable law
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to Alderbeam, without overriding mandatory consumer protections or other rights that apply where you live. Courts with lawful jurisdiction may resolve disputes that the parties cannot settle informally.
15. Contact
